What Happens Next

Gold Coast Celebrant, Corinne & Adrian

Welcome to the first steps of planning your wedding ceremony. This is an exciting and wonderful time in your life, a time that will stay with both of you forever. So you have one shot at making this perfect.  As your wedding celebrant or wedding officiant, the information that follows will help you understand the legal process and requirements, before you marry and how I work with you to plan your wedding ceremony.

Marriage Documents that must be completed

It is a legal requirement that you both complete a NOIM, Notice of Intent to Marry. We can complete your NOIM together, no earlier than 18 months before your Wedding date and no later than 1 calender month before your wedding date. If you cannot complete this with me, you can have your NOIM witnessed by an authorised person.

Declaration of No Legal Impediment This is a declaration that you both complete, before you marry and have witnessed by me your celebrant, at a date that is as close to your marriage ceremony as possible. A delaration of no legal impediment, declares there is no legal reason why you should not be married to each other. In the movies and in the past, someone could come forward at the wedding ceremony and object to the marriage being solemised. Fortunately this is not done anymore!

Proof of Identity ID Documents for both of you are required. There must be one form of Photo Identification. Passport or Drivers License and proof of date of birth (Birth Certificate or Passport) Your wedding celebrant or authorised witness will need to see your ID prior to witnessing your NOIM.

Translaters for Wedding Ceremony There are circumstances where you may need to use a NATTI approved translater, if your documents are not in english and need to be translated, or you are having a translator at your marriage ceremony.

Witnesses On the day of your wedding, you must have two witnesses over the age of 18 years to witness your ceremony. This can be anyone you choose. Choosing two members of your bridal party can make it easier, but the witnesses can be who ever you want, providing they are over 18.

Wedding Ceremony We have the marriage document signing out of the way, we can move onto discussing your marriage ceremony and all the things you want to include in your ceremony. If you don't know what you would like to include or where to start from, I have resources, samples, ideas and suggestions and unlimited guidance for you. Perhaps you are unsure how your ideas may fit in to your ceremony. Don't worry, that is why I am here.  Take your time to think abut and decide what you want. When you have some ideas, thoughts, must haves, wants, I will take these and create a draft for you to review. From here on we communicate until you are happy with your marriage ceremony.

The content of your ceremony, might include, readings, rituals, family, music, songs, kids, pets or something else significant to you both.  As there are many different marriage rituals, I will go into rituals in more depth in my blog page

Wedding Timeline  On the day of your wedding ceremony, I arrive 30 to 45 minutes ahead of the ceremony start time. This gives me the opportunity to meet and greet, calm nerves  and make sure your groom or partner, bridal party, buttonholes, flowers, props, and music are all ready to go and setup for the brides arrival.

Wedding Ceremony, Inclusions  My Celebrant Services are available for ceremonies across the Gold Coast,  Mount Tamborine, Tweed Heads and surrounding areas.
